Stickam rumors...and more

Rumors are flying all around the popular video community Stickam about possible upcoming changes. Recently Stickam has begun to feature a broader combination of UGC (user generated content) and major media offerings on its front page in a new interface which is more visitor friendly. The recent addition of Google adsense and banner ads has led some users to wonder whether Stickam is getting ready for significant changes. Speculation about what those changes might be ranges from the site being "prepped for sale" to a larger internet firm to a possible roll out of a fee based, subscription type service. The service has been innovating a lot recently. New features have been popping up to the surprise, and occasionally chagrin of the most active users. It also appears that there is a new focus on policing so called "inappropriate" content on the PG-13 site. I'll keep my eye on the changes and see if I can find out more as things develop.

Viewer Descretion SERIOUSLY Advised

So, the Yamagoo-ing spiders reminded me of a video i saw some time ago. While i myself do not Yamagoo, there were some things that came with the RAVE scene prior to its progression into mainstream. Some things i tried, others i had no interest in. But back in the 70s an experiment on the effects on LSD. This video may be found to be somewhat disturbing to some readers, especially cat people. Please, if you are someone that is closed minded, or someone who will read this watch the video, and then complain, then just don't watch. This is really something to make you say WTF.

Mad Crazy beer Pong Skillz

This is very surreal. This is the kind of guy that could give you alcohol poisoning during a beer pong bash. How much of that is untapped trigonometric (yes that is a real word)genius. Imagine if that resource could be tapped for good. Oh wait...it is cause this is DAMN GOOD!

The Captain Is Back, JACK!!!!

Ok, so I have been absent for a little bit, mostly because of work. The other part due to the relationship I was in... Well, needless to say that said "relationship" is over. And while I hate to see a good thing go to waste, better sooner then later. Of course this means that yours truly is back to being a single bachelor. Well, I was in a rather bad mood, on Friday, today is Sunday, and after a great afternoon of Frolf(don't know what this is, read more HERE. want to make it a hobby, visit my friends HERE), a short talk with some friends, and a rather cute blonde girls number, I'm back to my good old self. Thought I'd share a video with all of our readers, that always makes me chuckle... ENJOY!!!

Not Asshole but IDIOT of the Week?!

I don't want to make Michael Vick official asshole of the week, but I do nominate him for IDIOT of the Week! He has officially been cleared of all suspicion by the Miami authorities but ONLY because he is Mike Vick. If it was you or me, or anyone who's not famous we'd be facing some sort of Federal Terror/Drug Trafficking charge. There's so much to say here but I think that SNL's Weekend up date nailed it so I'll leave it to them to share my thoughts. Enjoy!

Thursday

Do you shave yours?

Here's an Oldie but goodie that may be new for some of you. ShaveMyYeti.com is a great waste of a few minutes to prove the theory that people have way too much free time on their hands....so much in fact that they visit blogs which send them to waste time on things like ShaveMyYeti.com! What a beautiful world eh?

Yamagoo Summit Recap...

Hey Gang! DJ J here in New Hampshire...hot off the Yamagoo Crew Summit Lite, and on my way to a Surprise 25th Anniversary Party in Wheelock,VT. Lets catch up shall we....

The Yamagoo Crew Summit(Lite) included 4 states, 2 live webcasts with 40+ viewers (Thank You ALL!) who got to eat lunch with DJ J, DJ Greggie C, and Vince (yet another DJ) and got to hang out in Greggie's studio upon completion of the install of a window into the vocal booth. The studios looking real good! We also installed a permanent mount for the "Yamagoo Studio Cam" and figured WTF! Why not broadcast an impromptu mix session with Greg, The Captain, and myself. So we did!! I have 3 hours of video to sort through from the live mix show but I promise a video by the end of the week! Cross my heart. We had alot of people hit us up that night, many stayed, a few logged in to live chat with us. It was a GREAT vibe. Fast forward to the next night and we're live from the infamous "Bistro" which is a secret and well hidden oasis for Yamagooers, where we streamed a rehearsal of Pro Bono, featuring Greggie C on lead vox/harmonica/COW BELL! (Freakin Sweet)...We've already posted some of Pro Bono on Yamagoo Tube...and I have another 3 hours of video from this to screen. There will be tons more and I promise a quick re-cap by the end of the week as well. While we were blown away by the response 40+ viewers live..we hardly let anyone know...it was sort of spontaneous.. We sent out a couple MySpace Notices but nothing too huge....posted a banner on the main page and BLAM! Instant live internet show...WITH chat! (We also emailed people but not too many, and called 1 or 2) Pretty successful for no pre-planning. It begs the question ...Do we need a Yamagoo Email List?? For now just leave a comment with some contact info and SIGN UP in caps and we'll let you know whats happening, while I cook up something more permanent.

The good news is really that we've decided to do more webcasting...We are in the process of getting webcams to the whole Yamagoo Crew and do some more instant webcasting live on Stickam....by the way you don't need to register with Stickam to chat during a broadcast...single click the video thumbnail, pick a chat name and hit enter, but if you do sign-up you can watch everyone else whos online with a cam in the chat. Greg and I have agreed to try and "get live" all day at work when we can. Get your Stickam account and spy on us all day live on line! Too weird? ABSO-FUCKIN-LUTELY! Yamagoo...Fire up!

Wednesday

I can't do it...not even with tools!

This is pretty freakin weird but strangely fascinating. I came by it in my GReader from the folks at FARK, who grabbed it from College Humor....(is that Web 2.0 convoluted enough for all you geeks out there?)

I have a thing about circles. I hated "proofs" in math class, I hated protractors, whatever... i cannot, and have never drawn even a decent circle. Then I see this guy and I'm like, "Whoa!" and "Why?" all at the same time.

PRO BONO ON YouTube

Here's the Pro Bono ADD/Lounge Against the Machine/Country cover of Led Zeppelins "Rock and Roll"

We filmed this and LOTS more during our last LIVE Broadcast. Stay tuned for the next online party.

George Washington - The Video

This struck me as some super funny shit and I wasn't even high! I guess this is friggin huge though today when it popped up in the Daily Reel feed in my GReader was the first I had seen it. This is proof that I am starting to get old. I get to the truly twisted but cool shit late! The video was created by cartoonist Brad Neely whose weird and wacky shit can be found at Creased Comics. The song is hysterical. I have heard alot of the myths referred to in the song repeated from so called intelligent folks in the know...Enjoy the video!

Blu-ray vs HD-DVD / VHS or Betamax? Warner Total HD

CNET - The NY Times is reporting that Warner Bros. plans to announce a new Hi-Def, single videodisc that can play both Blu-ray and HD DVD.

Just like the good old format wars between VHS and Beta, Blu-ray, backed by Sony and HD DVD, backed by Toshiba and Microsoft launched competing products. The whole thing has pissed off tons of movie lovers, and made for really slow Hi Def video and player sales. (It's also created a nauseating amount of posts just like this one about who will win the "format wars") You may have spent big bucks on that Big screen HD tv but how many people dropped $1200+ on a Blu-Ray or HD DVD player?

Warner Bros. seems to be saying that everyone should win, by putting both formats on a single disc. Only problem I see with this is its logical and corporations detest logic. particularly the fuck ups at Sony, Toshiba (I have a Toshiba Pocket PC - Thanks DJGreggieC! and believe me they can ass rape a consumer but good) and Microsoft(I have two words for you Vista EULA).

Shit get worse when you start to look at who has already chosen sides. these aren't rinky din little piss-ant companies. These are the big boys who tell us everything from what's cool to how to dress. In

Blu-Ray only companies are- MGM, which is part owned by Comcast , 20th Century Fox, a division of the News Corp. and Walt Disney Pictures.

HD-DVD only-Universal Studios, which is owned by General Electric,

Warner and Paramount Pictures, owned by Viacom, are using both formats.

Much of this bull shit has more to do with console gaming than it has to do with the actual movies themselves. The PS3 (Sony) has Blu-Ray built into it and Xbox 360 (Microsoft)just issued a shiny new add-on HD drive.

As you can see these companies have alot to gain, and alot to lose if their own format of choice isn't the eventual winner. Personally the only way I am buying any of this shit is if I end up with a PS3 by some miracle. the movies are over-priced and eventually everything will be available on broadband for viewing on demand.
