So you think you're good at naming tunes????

images I am one of those people who can win at the game name that tune especially if it is from the 70's thru the 90's. I thought I was really good at naming songs till I found Wat Zat Song. Here is a site that helps others figure out exactly, what is that song? People either play a clip of the song or try to hum it, no sometimes the clips are real bad or they can NOT sign (But that is half the challenge). You can log in and create a profile and start guessing songs. You MUST guess the artist and Title. Heres more about the site:

WatZatSong is a website that allows you to quickly find the artist and the title of a tune that you have in your head. WatZatSong is free and participatory: it relies on the music knowledge of its members, who can, by naming your tunes, show their talent and climb up the WatZatSong ranking!

RIAA now trying to screw musicians too

How do you like the RIAA now Gene Simmons? Ready to roll over and let them take your money Lars Ulrich? According to The Hollywood Reporter the RIAA is negotiating on behalf of the big record comapnies to lower the amount of money that artists and publishers make on songs if they are digitally delivered.
Wait...??
I thought the RIAA was fighting FOR the artists?
WRONG!!!
They fight for the big companies because that is who they represent. The Record Labels!
I find it funny that artists were out backing these ass hats and now they're trying to bend those same artists over and give em what they've been giving the fans. It's time for artists to take control of their own careers and release their own material. Death to the big labels! Free the music!

Paramore

I got this from John Mayer (yes THAT John Mayer) and I agree with his assessment of her potential to crank out tons of hits. She has an amazing voice and an obvious way with lyrics. Keeps your eyes peeled and remember you saw it here first!

Alexx Calise - This chick ROCKS!

Photo Credit: Bill keefreyGo here immediately and listen to Alexx Calise. She is fantastic! Nice sense of phrasing, tough but funky with hints of the 80's but not in a nostalgic way. In the way that a youngster is influenced by discovering her parents record collection. It's intuitive. Ernie Ball.com describes Alexx Calise like this...

"Throw your words at me, I'll have my way with them," mocks young female rocker, Alexx Calise. Calise is a lyrical muse, often combining existentialism and paradoxical themes with screaming guitars and raw, vibrato-laden vocals that are just as intense and penetrable as they are warm and cherubic. Though she has great range and intensity spanning several popular genres, her sound is unmistakably rock 'n' roll

Catchy tunes, Pull It Bullet, Give it To Me. As Greggie C said to me the other day...I'd give it a throw!

Check out her new album Morning Pill on sale HERE...

Winning the War on Drugs - NOT!

I'm reposting this to the front of the blog for all my fellow Fark'rs. Give it a watch if you've never seen it. It's pretty good. Love you all...even you non-Yamagooer folk.

The band is the Assylum Street Spankers. Check out their website by clicking on the link. Very interesting. They are promoting their new family album. Take a listen, though if you're not a bluegrass or country fan this might be rough for you. I found it enjoyable but I like Bluegrass.

Entourage returns...Love it, love it, love it!

So the boys are back in town, officially. Last night the latest season of entourage premiered immediately following the first of the final Sopranos episodes. My review...Fucking awesome.

Last nights the guys threw Vince a birthday party that got a little out of hand till Turtle had a stroke of genius and decided to "sponsor" the event.

True highlights of the night. Vince's new agent asking Ari if he wanted her to walk him to his car cause "this town isn't safe for a bitch."
And the show credits rolled to "Lapdance" by N.E.R.D. Great tune! What did you think? C'mon Yamagooers whats better than watching Turtle have his stroke of genius while smoking a big fat spliff? Show some love for the Entourage by posting your thoughts in the comments.

RIAA bullying 10 yr olds / disabled

From Xeni (woohoo we love Xeni) at BoingBoing
"Despite her disabled mom's claims of innocence, The RIAA is insisting on deposing Tanya Andersen's 10-year-old daughter in Atlantic v. Andersen, in Oregon. The child was 7 years old at the time of the alleged infringement."
Wtf? What on earth is the point of putting a child through the intimidating process of a deposition. Do 5 RIAA ASSHAT lawyers, in suits that cost more than this little girls mom makes in a year on SS Disability, really need to stare down a little girl? What cost is there to intellectual property? And I didn't realize that Oregon was a hot bed of downloading. How much music could a 7 year old have downloaded? I'd love to meet the giant pussy lead barrister who is making an issue of this. Where the fuck is your common sense? And BTW where the hell is the judge to put a stop to this?

I can't take this shit! The RIAA are going to single handedly be responsible for the complete implosion of the industry they want to protect. How fucking difficult is it for you fucktards to realize that you need to leap into the new millennium and start doing business the way people want to do business in this day and age. We are willing to pay for the music, not for your fucking executive salaries, armies of lawyers, golden parachutes, pointless gigantic ad campaigns, payola radio budgets, and all the other bullshit that has nothing to do with music. We're tired of paying for plastic shrink wrap, clear cases, stupid warning label ultra hyped neon stickers, card board cut out life size images of the latest fuckin loser you're promoting, simply cause thats the way you're daddy did it. Stop sucking so much and maybe we'll download from your site,, OHHHHH yeah WE CANT cause you retards won't get with the fucking program!

Fuck your DRM

Fuck your Gestapo legal tactics

FUCK YOU RIAA

and FYIthe labels responsible for harassing this little girl, hiding behind there asswipe lawyers are....

-Atlantic Recording
-Priority Records
-Capitol Records
-UMG Music and
-BMG Music.

From the recordingindustryvspeople website

Way to go! You should be proud that your lawyers are billing you 10,000% of the actual damage this may have done to you.....FUCKIN' BRILLIANT!

Brad Delp "The voice of BOSTON" Dies at 55

Lead singer of the classic rock band Boston, Brad Delp was found dead in his apartment on Friday at around 1pm. No official cause of death has been announced.

Bradley E. Delp is the man with the golden voice, who sang all vocals (lead and harmony/backup) on the first three BOSTON albums.

Before Brad joined BOSTON he was working in a manufacturing plant (making heating coils for Mr. Coffee machines) while singing in various Boston-area clubs at night. After former band-member Barry Goudreau brought Brad to the attention of Tom Scholz, Brad began singing on Tom's demo tapes. His indelible voice ultimately became an integral part of the BOSTON sound.

Brad honed his unique singing style by performing in various clubs regularly in the early '70's, a welcome respite from his day job, working in a factory making heating coils. Barry Goudreau brought Brad to the attention of Tom Scholz while he was recording demo tapes in his basement studio. In addition to being blessed with those golden vocal chords, he was also a talented songwriter, and wrote or co-wrote with Tom several songs on the first two BOSTON albums, as well as Walk On. Not only did he possess one of the most recognizable voices in the history of rock music, but Brad Delp also played guitar, keyboards, and harp.

Singing lead and all the harmony tracks (4-6 depending on the song) on the first 3 BOSTON albums, Brad's voice became an international treasure, heard around the world on a daily basis.
Brad's fans rave about what a personable and humble man he was. His band mates do as well. Drummer Jeff Neal says, "There's not much more that can be said about him that hasn't already been said a million times. One of the most distinguishable voices in all of popular music, and also one of the nicest, most down to earth guys you ever had the pleasure of meeting. I have never seen someone who can could so seemingly effortlessly do what he did, whether it be singing those classic lines from the first album or working a room at a meet-and-greet. If there were such a thing as a rock and roll university, Brad would have been my first choice for teaching 'How to be a Rock Icon 101' He was self-effacing, kind-hearted and always willing to share the attention. He also had one of the quickest wits around.

When not touring with BOSTON, Brad was involved with a Beatles tribute band called Beatle Juice. Tom says, "They sound more like the Beatles than the Beatles did!" Delp cited the Fab Four as his greatest influence, and was a huge fan since he first heard them over the airwaves. Over the years, Brad lent his songwriting and vocal talents to several projects including the solo album by Barry Goudreau, Orion the Hunter, and RTZ. Most recently, in 2003 Brad and Barry released Delp and Goudreau, an album they made, "for the sheer pleasure of making music."
A vegetarian for 37 years, Brad lived in New Hampshire's Merrimac Valley. He was alone at the time of his death.
The music of Boston is huge in the tapestry of my life. I have laughed, rocked and maybe even shed some tears to song after song and always was in awe as a singer of Brad Delps voice. What a loss for us, what a gain for that ever growing rock band in heaven.

...Albums You've Never Heard of..Earl Greyhound "Soft Targets"

Here's my latest entry for Greatest Albums You've Never Heard of Earl Greyhound...Soft Targets...this is the video for their first single.. S.O.S.

Earl Greyhound began with the collaboration of songwriters Matt Whyte and Kamara Thomas in the spring of 2002 in New York City. The pair began performing regularly as a duo on piano and guitar in NYC and Los Angeles that summer, during which they crafted the sound that would become the nucleus and essence of Earl Greyhound.

They expanded the act into a far louder guitar trio—Matt on lead vocals and guitar and Kamara on bass and backing vocals—with keen aim set on the sound of strident English rock bands from the likes of Queen and Bowie to Led Zeppelin and T.Rex. The trio’s live show soon exploded into a veritable rock and roll wrecking ball, swinging from melodious soul to gallant rock. Behind a leviathan drum kit, drummer Ricc Sheridan pounds out thundering interwoven beats in the tradition of John Bonham and Billy Cobham’s Mahavishnu—and in appearance, uncannily reminiscent of Hendrix-era Buddy Miles.

The interplay of Matt and Kamara’s singing is mesmerizing, “often invoking the spirit of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris” (Village Voice). With the release of their self-titled EP on Some Records in October 2004, Earl Greyhound began an extensive tour of the US to prepare for the recording of their self-produced debut full-length Soft Targets (release date 10/03/06) in Los Angeles. The tour concluded with an invitation to support Soundtrack of Our Lives at The Troubadour in LA.

Soft Targets was recorded in LA at Westbeach Recorders (FleetwoodMac, Pink Floyd) and finished back home in New York in January 2006. The band is at work preparing their next record and playing shows on the northeast corridor before they head out this fall to support the release of their full-length debut. Soft Targets is one of the most important releases of 2006, a impressive foundation for a band set to make a major impact on the musical landscape.

Yamagoo Summit Recap...

Hey Gang! DJ J here in New Hampshire...hot off the Yamagoo Crew Summit Lite, and on my way to a Surprise 25th Anniversary Party in Wheelock,VT. Lets catch up shall we....

The Yamagoo Crew Summit(Lite) included 4 states, 2 live webcasts with 40+ viewers (Thank You ALL!) who got to eat lunch with DJ J, DJ Greggie C, and Vince (yet another DJ) and got to hang out in Greggie's studio upon completion of the install of a window into the vocal booth. The studios looking real good! We also installed a permanent mount for the "Yamagoo Studio Cam" and figured WTF! Why not broadcast an impromptu mix session with Greg, The Captain, and myself. So we did!! I have 3 hours of video to sort through from the live mix show but I promise a video by the end of the week! Cross my heart. We had alot of people hit us up that night, many stayed, a few logged in to live chat with us. It was a GREAT vibe. Fast forward to the next night and we're live from the infamous "Bistro" which is a secret and well hidden oasis for Yamagooers, where we streamed a rehearsal of Pro Bono, featuring Greggie C on lead vox/harmonica/COW BELL! (Freakin Sweet)...We've already posted some of Pro Bono on Yamagoo Tube...and I have another 3 hours of video from this to screen. There will be tons more and I promise a quick re-cap by the end of the week as well. While we were blown away by the response 40+ viewers live..we hardly let anyone know...it was sort of spontaneous.. We sent out a couple MySpace Notices but nothing too huge....posted a banner on the main page and BLAM! Instant live internet show...WITH chat! (We also emailed people but not too many, and called 1 or 2) Pretty successful for no pre-planning. It begs the question ...Do we need a Yamagoo Email List?? For now just leave a comment with some contact info and SIGN UP in caps and we'll let you know whats happening, while I cook up something more permanent.

The good news is really that we've decided to do more webcasting...We are in the process of getting webcams to the whole Yamagoo Crew and do some more instant webcasting live on Stickam....by the way you don't need to register with Stickam to chat during a broadcast...single click the video thumbnail, pick a chat name and hit enter, but if you do sign-up you can watch everyone else whos online with a cam in the chat. Greg and I have agreed to try and "get live" all day at work when we can. Get your Stickam account and spy on us all day live on line! Too weird? ABSO-FUCKIN-LUTELY! Yamagoo...Fire up!

Stewart Copeland interview....

I loved the Police, still do. I admit that I am a Sting fan. Yes, Yes hate if you must but I love the stuff....and DJ Greggie C and I both love Smooth Jazz...but I digress....

Here's Stewart Copeland, former drummer of the Police talks about the police break up, new music trends and his movie. Interesting, sadly he says "No" to a Police Reunion and he was sure...very sure.

PRO BONO ON YouTube

Here's the Pro Bono ADD/Lounge Against the Machine/Country cover of Led Zeppelins "Rock and Roll"

We filmed this and LOTS more during our last LIVE Broadcast. Stay tuned for the next online party.
