A letter from David Letterman

Try to read this article by David Letterman without thinking Democrat or Republican..... we need to all be grateful!

David Letterman wrote this; it's the David we don't often see....

'As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark .

'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right?

The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So! being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?''

A.. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?

B.. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?

C.. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?

D.. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

E.. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present
identification papers as we move through each state?

F.. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?

G.. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.

H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

I.. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.

J.. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use
top notch equipment to extinguish the flames, thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.

K.. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a
bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.

L.. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90%
of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

M.. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a
great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The President who has a measly 31percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?

Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at ! the P resident because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.

Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an 'other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable' ' discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?

Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch ! a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as country.

There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With! hurr icanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

John Mayer - Where the light is

I have written about this, and talked about it on-air but according to my wife I have a "man crush" on John Mayer. I describe this as a guy who, if you had to trade lives with, you wouldn't mind. So I guess YES it is true. The guys got a great career, bangs supermodels and hot actresses, not to mention that it was John who hipped me to Paramore months before the rest of the world got on their band wagon. He's one of the most soulful guitarists I have ever heard play, and....he's a geek through and through. Here's the trailer to his upcoming concert video. Looks good. Give him a chance and you never know you might just meet someone you wouldn't mind hanging out with too.

Not only that but the guy has a great sense of humor and doesn't take himself too seriously so as far as I am concerned haters like Ryan Tate over at Gawker can suck it...jealousy is sooo unflattering

Repairing a Run DLL32 problem

Ugh! This has happened to me, and I cannot tell you how sucky it is to get this BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) from Windows. I went at it alone and eventually reached a point where I decided that I had enough backed up that I would just reformat and reinstall. That having been said it still cost me ALOT! So today when I saw that Extremetech had coverage on how to do this I was psyched. Apparently I am not the only one who encountered this problem and made the wrong selections at the prompting of the OS repair disk. So go read the article and make sure you bookmark it. I will archive the answer here so you can come back, if God forbid, this happens to you. Meanwhile Microsoft...could you get on this so its no longer an issue? Here's the proper procedure....
Reinsert the OS disc and instead of choosing Repair in the first screen choose Install Windows. This will not automatically start the install. You will see a screen showing you that an operating system already exsists. This will ask weather you want to install a new OS or repair the current OS?
Choose Repair from this second screen and it will start what's called a dynamic reinstall. Make sure the machine is connected to the internet as much of the repair will be done via the servers in Redmond.

Well is it LiveVideo.com?

Perhaps you've seen LiveVideo.com....maybe you haven't but the social network is making a strong play to position itself as the place to see and be seen for webcasting and live blogging on the internet.
I signed up shortly after the site came out of private Beta and have been dipping my toe in the pool to get a feel for what the site is capable of. I gotta say there are lots of reasons why LiveVideo may just come out on top of the heap.

LiveVideo offers more broadcasting options than any of its competitors. As a matter of fact the newest high quality video option in its basic player gives you the clearest image available currently, outside of Mogulus. They also offer a LivePro option but when using a program like WebCamMax to control graphics, overlays and to play streaming video the signal degrades significantly. It is my understanding that they are feverishly working on incorporating their High quality option into this streaming interface and when they do...well they'll be pretty much the best system out there.
LiveVideo will make social networking freaks VERY happy. Not surprising since that's where they have their roots. Options like integrated forums, gifts, earnable "points", blogging, widgets and more make this the friendliest of the webcasting neighborhoods. There's also an 18+ ONLY option for broadcasters which ostensibly offers much more cover to creators who want to dance on the edge of political correctness. While the sites TOS are reminiscent of everyone elses, as long as your not broadcasting hardcore porn, or straight nudity, you can pretty much do what you want.
So is LiveVideo.com the final home for the Geek Cool Webcast?
Hmmmmm...YouTube? Exactly how long til you guys are ready for streaming video?
Fall?
Maybe I shouldn't just wait?!?

BlogTV unblocked but still WTF?!

So the BlogTV moderator Team finally got around to replying to my email...AT 10:53am!!! Just over an hour before the show was scheduled to go on. Then they took their time in reinstating the live broadcast capabilities and caused the show to start late. Here is their full message...

Hi yamagoo,

Your broadcast was terminated for continuing to show inappropriate pics even though you have been warned several times in the past.

Please note that pictures containing nudity, sexual content, thongs, or other pics that may be considered extreme or too suggestive are not allowed and are, in fact, a breach of the terms of use.

We can unblock your show but only if you let us know that you understand and accept our rules, and will not repeat the same behavior in the future.

Should you have any hesitations regarding specific pictures you are more than welcome to contact a moderator and we will be happy to see if it complies with this policy.

Thank you for your time and cooperation,
BlogTV Moderation Team
Yeah, yeah yeah...so I sent them the mia culpa they wanted... but I still don't get it so here is the rant from todays show...you decide.

TOS Who does it Apply To? - Broadcast your self LIVE

Here's the video of the 17 yrd old member I talked about in the video above (and her over 21 yr old co-host..(btw this video is STILL featured on BlogTV's main page)

Boob dance! - Broadcast your self LIVE

and here's the Rockland FHM top 10 show which was live on BlogTV and is featured proudly on his BlogTV home page...including his "Fap-o-Meter" complete with cum splotches and all (ATTENTION: I think Rockland's show is GREAT! I just don't see how he gets to do this and I get my balls busted)

Here's the email response from the Community Manager at BlogTV..

What happened was that you were warned about showing those pictures which are in clearly violation of our terms (which are not arbitrary, they are legal issues) and then you continued to do so.

There are screen caps and times to prove exactly what happened.

Regardless, you have not been in trouble in the past so if you write to moderationatblogtv.com and promise them that it wont happen again, they will unblock the show.

Understand that the choices about not showing images like that are not our personal choices and we do understand that they are not THAT bad. However, we have to enforce rules on a large community of people here and if we begin to let these things slide for some people the rest will freak out.

Thank you for understanding,

and THERE's the rub...the rules aren't enforced on everyone...in factthe mods DO let things slide for some but not for all. I am the "the rest" and I am "freaking out" because the rules are the rules according to the emails I received, but they don't apply uniformly AT ALL!
I'm not even going into some prominent long time BlogTV broadcasters who graphically describe sexual acts, or participate in orgasm faking competitions. I didn't take it anywhere NEAR that far. So which is is BlogTV?

Kicked from BlogTV AGAIN!

This is getting to be a regular affair. Once again i was kicked off BlogTV for some unknown offense during the Geek Cool broadcast. We had a visit from one Moderator Mod SHaron. Mod Sharon asked that I not post anything "extreme" no nudity, no sexually explicit pictures, no....THONGS?
Wait.....WHAT?

So anyway I removed what Mod Sharon referred to as the "objectionable" pictures and we carried on, much to the amusement and bewildrement of those watching the show. All of the pics cycled through about 10 more times with no problems and suddenly with about 4 minutes remaining in the show...BLOCKED!?!

A message which said I should use the "CONTACT US" form to inquire as to the nature of my offense. The CONTACT US feature was however NOT WORKING when I chose "other" as the subject. After several additional attempts I found that using the "I cant start my show" subject was acceptable and off went my message. That was 30 minutes ago (good thing I wasn't asking for help to get started!) and I have still received no clue as to what the problem was? I have posted here the pics that may have raised the ire of BlogTV...you tell me do you see any nudity? Anything sexually explicit?

C'mon BlogTV what's your beef?

SanDisk launches Sansa Sessions -- music distribution by microSD, what else?

sansa-sessions SanDisk just dipped its toe into the digital content distribution waters with the launch of Sansa Sessions. Of course, this isn't an on-line storefront, it's flash-based naturally in support of SanDisk's core business. As such, the US-based program relies upon microSD cards to distribute DRM-free tracks of unspecified quality from more than 50 "emerging artists" on more than 30 labels. At the moment, the featured artists include All Time Low, Ladytron, Magnet, Nada Surf, Of Montreal and The Coup. SanDisk has tied a free, 55 track microSD "sampler" card (of el cheapo 512MB capacity, presumably) to the purchase of its 8GB Sansa Fuze MP3 player. While the $0 cost and DRM-free aspects of Sansa Sessions are certainly appealing to us, this seems best fitted as a record / artist promotional tool than it does a replacement for web-based or over-the-air music distribution.

File Sharing Being Banned Around the World!

japanpirate Japan has decided to beat France and the United Kingdom (both who have similar proposals) to become the first country to ban file sharers from the internet.

Oddly the agreement to do so has not come from the Japanese Government, but from Japan’s four internet service provider organizations after pressure (not surprisingly) from the record and movie industries. According to Torrent Freak, the agreement would see copyright holders tracking down file-sharers on the Internet using “special detection software” and then notifying ISPs of alleged infringers. File sharers will initially receive a warning for a first offense, then be disconnected for subsequent offenses, eventually be disconnected from the internet permanently (it wasn’t clear whether the agreement is a three strikes proposal).

The process will formally commence in April and will primarily target users of Winny, the most popular file sharing network in Japan.

Electric Bike Hits 75 Miles Per Charge

While electric bikes have been growing in popularity, they are typically hampered by paltry ranges resulting from limited battery life. Because the Giant Twist Freedom DX ($2000) runs on a cyborglike mix of muscle and machine power, it can travel twice as far as most powered cycles—up to 75 miles per charge.

When you pedal, an integrated torque sensor summons the perfect amount of power from the bike’s front-hub motor to keep you at a steady pace; pedal harder and the motor settles down, take a rest and it kicks into overdrive. The bike comes out in May, and the manufacturer tells us that it sees the technology eventually taking off in developing countries, where it could act as a low-cost option for carless commuters. giant-bicycles.com

USBee?

How many times have you broken a USB flash drive? I’m pretty hard on mine, and I can think of three different drives that I’ve broken. Two of them had the USB connector broken off due to me just being clumsy while the third’s outer casing just kind of fell apart. This is why I usually take interest in any such drives that claim to be resistant to breakage such as this USBee (get it?) concept drive.

This bee-themed concept drive utilizes a combination of a silicon and aluminum shell which allows for a bendable neck. The ability to bend at the neck will help to prevent both the drive and the USB port from getting broken. The black stripes are actually a cleverly-disguised cooling system to keep it from getting too warm. This is currently only a concept, so who knows if we’ll ever see it in production.

So you think you're good at naming tunes????

images I am one of those people who can win at the game name that tune especially if it is from the 70's thru the 90's. I thought I was really good at naming songs till I found Wat Zat Song. Here is a site that helps others figure out exactly, what is that song? People either play a clip of the song or try to hum it, no sometimes the clips are real bad or they can NOT sign (But that is half the challenge). You can log in and create a profile and start guessing songs. You MUST guess the artist and Title. Heres more about the site:

WatZatSong is a website that allows you to quickly find the artist and the title of a tune that you have in your head. WatZatSong is free and participatory: it relies on the music knowledge of its members, who can, by naming your tunes, show their talent and climb up the WatZatSong ranking!

CLICK HERE to visit them or go to: http://www.watzatsong.com/EN/
