People of Illinois Contact your State Senators-SB650 MUST PASS

All right if you're from Illinois, or know someone who lives there, you need to contact your state senator (clicking the link will bring you to a page with their contact information) and encourage them to bring senate bill SB650 to the floor and to vote, and to vote in favor of this important legislation

The bill is aimed at legalizing medical marijuana, and has the support of approximately 20 of the 30 senators it needs to pass. Legislation pending in the Senate would allow people diagnosed with "debilitating'' medical conditions to legally possess up to 12 cannabis plants and as much as 2.5 ounces of usable cannabis.

The bill, sponsored by state Sen. John Cullerton, D-Chicago, has passed committee and is awaiting a Senate floor vote. Additionally 40 religious leaders, from around the state, have submitted a letter which was distributed to all state senators supporting the legislation, on moral grounds, as a way to ease suffering. One of the clergy who signed the letter, Pastor Robert C. Morwell of Union United Methodist Church in Quincy, said he had never used marijuana nor had any desire to. "But I think it's a little silly to say we can prescribe morphine … and other drugs that are more addictive,'' but not marijuana, he said.(from ST. I don't think I need to go in to all the benefits of medical marijuana here in this post. 12 States AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ME,NM, NV, OR, RI, VT and WA have already "seen the light" and passed medical marijuana laws, despite heavy handed tactics from the federal government to interfere with programs or to target users for federal prosecution. it's time for Cannabis to be "rescheduled" and taken off the illicit drugs list. There are hundreds of thousands of people in this country, who in one way or another, could be treating their conditions more safely, more effectively, and FOR LESS MONEY, if they had access to medical marijuana, and protection from federal persecution prosecution. So who are we helping? A bunch of hippies? Some ne'er do well stoners? Nefarious criminals? Take one look and tell me if this woman seems threatening to you. Any questions? Good now go turn out your senators vote.

But, not too fast, we don't want to freak you out, man! Philly is of course the Yamagoo Hometown. Our WORLD HEADQUARTERS is in Philly (super secret location, requiring spelunking gear, and special bi-focals to locate) and the town will be hosting (like it or not) a 420 event featuring Edward "njweedman" Forchion and members of the US based Legalize Marijuana party are holding a Peace Vigil and march to urge US lawmakers to end the war on Iraq and the war on domestic herb users. I think we need to role out a full-on Bucky Katt for President campaign. If Bucky runs solely on a legalize it platform, and affordable tuna for all he'll garner our slavish devotion when we're not doing other things that is.

The pressure was too much

Apparently the pressure we exerted on Get Fuzzy creator Darby Conley to fess up was just too much! Bucky has come straight out and confessed his love for the Mean Green!

sometimes you only need wait one more day and there it is. Todays Get Fuzzy ought to be enough proof for anyone that at least Bucky (and lets face it he's a cat so he isn't buying his own) and likely Rob are closet tokers. HURRAY!

Whenever I end up talking to someone about this blog, either on-line or in person the term "green friendly" inevitably comes up. While we don't feel that readers of the blog need to be Yamagooers themselves, as much of our content has nothing to do with smoking, we do expect them to be "kind kind" Today I was paging through the Greader and WHAM-O todays GET FUZZY. This is my favorite comic strip for the last 4 years or so. Here's the strip....Is it me or does it look like Bucky is running for President on a Legalize it platform? Get Fuzzy is Yamagoo friendly! I knew I loved this strip!
Should we add Bucky, Rob, and Satchel to the People we would love to smoke a bowl with?

According to the analyst Jon Gettman, whose job it is to keep up with what us subversive counter cultural degenerate pot smokers are doing, marijuana is now America's biggest cash crop.

[The report] contends that the market value of pot produced in the U.S. exceeds $35 billion — far more than the crop value of such heartland staples as corn, soybeans and hay, which are the top three legal cash crops.

California is responsible for more than a third of the cannabis harvest, with an estimated production of $13.8 billion that exceeds the value of the state's grapes, vegetables and hay combined — and marijuana is the top cash crop in a dozen states, the report states. (...) Nationwide, the estimated cannabis production of $35.8 billion exceeds corn ($23 billion), soybeans ($17.6 billion) and hay ($12.2 billion), according to Gettman's findings.

Just in case your thinking "yeah right...fruit cake press says marijuanna is the biggest cash crop grown here in the good old USA this is the LA Times article where you'll find it all laid out. Paid for by tax dollars this study was. Hmmmmm at an average sales tax of oh say 8% our antiquated and draconian anti-marijuanna laws are costing YOU the taxpayer over 3 BILLION DOLLARS a year! Yeah that says Billion.
Imagine how much could be grown and sold if we legalized its sale and distribution.
