Another Cool Series

One of My favorite series is of course the halo based Red vs. Blue series, from Rooster teeth. Another, comes from the great people over at STICKPAGE.COM Now as with all the videos, they are somewhat... Strange, i guess is the best word. However here is the first, VERY well made short from the "madness combat" series which has 7 movies, as well as one interactive movie. Not to mention, the music is great. Hope you all enjoy this.

And of course, if you are a fan of the xbox hit Halo, and have not watched an episode of Red vs. Blue, ill include a video of the best from season 4. I think that some people may go MIA for a day just watching these great movies.... ENJOY!!

420 Goings on - CELEBRATE Good Times C'mon

HEY YAMAGOOERS...Tomorrow we all celebrate the thing that unites us. Yes cannabis, but more importantly freedom. Freedom to choose. We choose to break a ridiculous and arbitrary law preventing us from enjoying one of God's greatest gifts. We Choose to celebrate where others hate. We choose to exercise a subtle, and not so subtle form of civil disobedience. Marijuana culture is becoming much higher profile than it has been since the 60's. National new media carry regular stories vacillating between praise and persecution for the great Ganja. Now even the entertainment networks are stepping up... Check it out G4Tv does us right tomorrow....

Blu-ray vs HD-DVD / VHS or Betamax? Warner Total HD

CNET - The NY Times is reporting that Warner Bros. plans to announce a new Hi-Def, single videodisc that can play both Blu-ray and HD DVD.

Just like the good old format wars between VHS and Beta, Blu-ray, backed by Sony and HD DVD, backed by Toshiba and Microsoft launched competing products. The whole thing has pissed off tons of movie lovers, and made for really slow Hi Def video and player sales. (It's also created a nauseating amount of posts just like this one about who will win the "format wars") You may have spent big bucks on that Big screen HD tv but how many people dropped $1200+ on a Blu-Ray or HD DVD player?

Warner Bros. seems to be saying that everyone should win, by putting both formats on a single disc. Only problem I see with this is its logical and corporations detest logic. particularly the fuck ups at Sony, Toshiba (I have a Toshiba Pocket PC - Thanks DJGreggieC! and believe me they can ass rape a consumer but good) and Microsoft(I have two words for you Vista EULA).

Shit get worse when you start to look at who has already chosen sides. these aren't rinky din little piss-ant companies. These are the big boys who tell us everything from what's cool to how to dress. In

Blu-Ray only companies are- MGM, which is part owned by Comcast , 20th Century Fox, a division of the News Corp. and Walt Disney Pictures.

HD-DVD only-Universal Studios, which is owned by General Electric,

Warner and Paramount Pictures, owned by Viacom, are using both formats.

Much of this bull shit has more to do with console gaming than it has to do with the actual movies themselves. The PS3 (Sony) has Blu-Ray built into it and Xbox 360 (Microsoft)just issued a shiny new add-on HD drive.

As you can see these companies have alot to gain, and alot to lose if their own format of choice isn't the eventual winner. Personally the only way I am buying any of this shit is if I end up with a PS3 by some miracle. the movies are over-priced and eventually everything will be available on broadband for viewing on demand.

The Wilhelm

In the mid-'70s, a young sound designer named Ben Burtt gave these sounds a name: "the Wilhelm scream," after a character in one of the earliest films that utilized the sounds. A couple of years later, Burtt was hired to work on a film called Star Wars. As an homage, he overdubbed the scream onto a scene in that film. Then he overdubbed it onto a scene in The Empire Strikes Back. And Return of the Jedi. A fellow Lucasfilm sound designer began using the Wilhelm too, in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, among other movies. And thus a film-geek in-joke was born. In the last 30 years the Wilhelm has been used winkingly in dozens of movies and TV shows, from Reservoir Dogs and The X-Files to Aladdin and Return of the King. More details are at Hollywood Lost and Found.
