Wednesday

Yesterday was a GREAT DAY for Yamagoo

Though it isn't yet official Minnesota is set to become the 13th state to legalize medical marijuana. From Tim Pugmire, Minnesota Public Radio
"The Minnesota Senate has given narrow approval to legislation legalizing the use of medical marijuana. Lawmakers passed the bill Tuesday on a preliminary vote of 33 to 31. The House version of the bill also cleared another committee and moved closer to a floor vote. Supporters say marijuana could help ease the suffering of patients who are critically ill or suffering from persistent pain."

Way to go Minnesota...Illinois are you watching cause you really need to become #14!

Then there was NY, more specifically New York City. From the NY DAILY NEWS by Chrisena Coleman

"The ganja granny is free.
All charges against Barbara Jackson, a 71-year-old great-grandmother busted for buying two dime bags of pot, were dropped yesterday on a technicality."
This means that cooler and more reasonable heads prevailed in NYC. Officially the "paperwork" was incomplete, and therefore the charges were dropped. I say that the face of Medical marijuana, from coast to coast, stepped out from the shadows and it wasn't evil, it wasn't threatening.

It was proud. It was human and it was desperate.

This is the problem folks! If you're not a pot smoker that's fine. I have no desire to change your mind or mess with your personal beliefs. However there are literally thousands upon thousands of people for whom marijuana represents hope. Hope for the appetite to feed their ailing bodies. Hope for a day without debilitating pain. Hope for clearer sight. This herb, that grows wild, naturally (when allowed to) provides a relief that people in this country pay big drug companies BILLIONS of dollars to enjoy. How can we justify spending billions of tax dollars fighting a war on "drugs." A war, mind you, that is prosecuted so vigorously that innocent people can have their rights trampled and even their lives ended, on the word of a single street dealer, or a busted user looking to lighten their sentence. I'm thinking of the 3 Atlanta police officers charged with manslaughter, 2 of whom have plead guilty, after having shot a 92 year old woman to death on a bad tip. Why? No Knock Warrants have led to many deaths in this country. Wanna cry? Read this list, it should do the trick. Yes I know many people are going to say well, that was cocaine, or heroin...well my gentle snowflakes (obscure reference?) marijuana is classified 100% the same as the 2 nasties just mentioned. This isn't coincidence cause the government had a chance to get this right, and almost did 35 years ago...even their own experts admitted that marijuana was "different" (Read the report here.) Is it a coincidence that our brains are specifically wired with receptors for the active ingredient in marijuana, THC? Is it a coincidence that this herb can quell so many vastly different ills, including a much more effective control of adult ADD/HDD than any manufactured drug currently available. And what are the beneficial by-products of the pharmacological alternatives...?? That's right..none. Marijuana...OMG where to begin, renewable resources for textiles, paper goods, industrial applications and YES, YES, even the newest darling of the media, fossil fuel alternatives. We exploit natural resources seven ways to Sunday in this country but for some reason there's a lot of hatred directed at this, amazingly versatile natural resource. All in the name of....what exactly?

Anyhow when I saw this on the news I was struck by the line from Mrs. Jackson..
"I went to see the sidewalk chemist"

It got me to imagining one of my neighbors or family members having to try and make connections with dealers as they suffered through the latter stages of chemo-therapy or the on-set of Glaucoma. If they would they could ask me and I would certainly, eagerly oblige them in making a safe "connection" (I have built the "relationships" that I have over trust & time, I am also a reasonably fit, 6ft tall, 225lb (yeah right!)guy that was built like a linebacker, so I usually don't sweat the physical risks involved in buying weed) but I know there is no way they would ever ask me. They would, I believe reach that point, you know the one right before you decide it is better to die than go on this way, where they would have to try to do something, ANYTHING, and would begin to explore "the neighborhood." I had visions of my Grandmother pulling up to a corner in a seedy neighborhood and rolling down the window so someone could palm her a dimebag.

THAT mental image is disgusting and should make us all ashamed.

Thank you NYC for doing the honorable thing. Now join Alaska | California | Colorado | Hawaii | Maine | Montana | Nevada | New Mexico | Oregon | Rhode Island | Vermont | Washington
and soon to be Minnesota and Illinois and make this madness stop! Help the people you can help, in the best way you can.

This post is ad free because we believe that doing the right thing is its own reward. Medical Marijuana, and federal decriminalization are indeed the right things. If you agree won't you please support your local chapter of NORML -The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

420 Goings on - CELEBRATE Good Times C'mon

HEY YAMAGOOERS...Tomorrow we all celebrate the thing that unites us. Yes cannabis, but more importantly freedom. Freedom to choose. We choose to break a ridiculous and arbitrary law preventing us from enjoying one of God's greatest gifts. We Choose to celebrate where others hate. We choose to exercise a subtle, and not so subtle form of civil disobedience. Marijuana culture is becoming much higher profile than it has been since the 60's. National new media carry regular stories vacillating between praise and persecution for the great Ganja. Now even the entertainment networks are stepping up... Check it out G4Tv does us right tomorrow....

Kirsten Dunst - Carl Sagan was "...biggest pot smoker in the world"

Apparently casting Kirsten Dunst as MaryJane in the Spiderman movies wasn't accidental by any means. The star told reporters that she thinks the world would be a better place if everyone smoked pot. From StarPulse
Dunst, 24, says,

"I drink moderately, I've tried drugs. I do like weed. I have a different outlook on marijuana than America does. My best friend Sasha's dad was Carl Sagan, the astronomer. He was the biggest pot smoker in the world and he was a genius.

"I've never been a major smoker, but I think America's view on weed is ridiculous. I mean - are you kidding me? If everyone smoked weed, the world would be a better place. I'm not talking about being stoned all day, though. I think if it's not used properly, it can hamper your creativity and close you up inside."

Right you are MaryJane Kirsten, right you are. So Kirsten Dunst has been added to the "People We'd Love to Smoke a Bowl With"

Friday

Thanks Ben Towle...Hobo

It was brought to my attention that Yamagoo was linked to by self described Cartoonist, Educator, Hobo Ben Towle on his blog Benzilla. We have been to Ben's Blog before as he was the first to point out the lack of attention that the Get Fuzzy Bucky for President strips was generating. His post is really good so go and read it. Then read his first post here!
Ben was also kind enough to point out that our navigation was planned out by a retarded frog. We're working on that and we sincerely thank Ben for bringing it to our attention.

Sunday

Should have seen it coming....

The signs were all there....(BTW - "get-fuzzy-marijuana" is the #1 way that people are finding the Yamagoo blog through organic search...Google and Yahoo!)

I think we need to role out a full-on Bucky Katt for President campaign. If Bucky runs solely on a legalize it platform, and affordable tuna for all he'll garner our slavish devotion when we're not doing other things that is.

Thursday

The pressure was too much

Apparently the pressure we exerted on Get Fuzzy creator Darby Conley to fess up was just too much! Bucky has come straight out and confessed his love for the Mean Green!

Wednesday

Confirmed- GET FUZZY- Yamagoo friendly

sometimes you only need wait one more day and there it is. Todays Get Fuzzy ought to be enough proof for anyone that at least Bucky (and lets face it he's a cat so he isn't buying his own) and likely Rob are closet tokers. HURRAY!

Tuesday

And now an Important Service Announcement

New in Feb Tim & Eric Show on Adult Swim

You saw it here first! This is going to be a big Deal!

Is GET FUZZY Yamagoo friendly?

Whenever I end up talking to someone about this blog, either on-line or in person the term "green friendly" inevitably comes up. While we don't feel that readers of the blog need to be Yamagooers themselves, as much of our content has nothing to do with smoking, we do expect them to be "kind kind" Today I was paging through the Greader and WHAM-O todays GET FUZZY. This is my favorite comic strip for the last 4 years or so. Here's the strip....Is it me or does it look like Bucky is running for President on a Legalize it platform? Get Fuzzy is Yamagoo friendly! I knew I loved this strip!
Should we add Bucky, Rob, and Satchel to the People we would love to smoke a bowl with?

Thursday

Something smells.....

Ok here's the quick and dirty on this......

If you have seen this DVD on TV or advertised online, it just may be that everything isn't quite on the up and up. We got a heads up from Loretta Nall that it is possible that Barry Coopers NEVER get Busted Again....might be less than sincere in its stated mission to...
“... teach Americans their civil liberties and what drives me in this is injustice and unfairness in our system,”
The DVD's look amazing. The preview shows Barry, in uniform being followed by a TV crew as he explains how he locked up hundreds of dealers and regular smokers (just like you and me). Then on comes Barry to tell us about his record, training and experience. The the pitch....Barry will teach us the techniques he used to be such a successful NARC. But he's changed...he regrets the way the system is unfair and....blah..blah...blah.....And Barry will do this for the amazing low price of $24.95?!?!? Payment accepted ONLY by credit card....shipped ONLY to a postal address, no post office boxes?? HUH? You just lost me Barry. Apparently Barry has been using the names of LEAP and NORML to promote his product, not only on his website, but also in the handful of TV appearances he has done to hype his latest venture. (He is after all, according to his website, and in addition to his NARC career...
"... the former owner of three car dealerships, a tire shop, a limousine service, a mixed martial arts company (cage fighting) and finally CEO of NEVERGETBUTSTED.COM."

Hmmmm....

Read Loretta's take on this here at her blog. She promises a review of the DVD's and much more to come so for the moment hold that cash and hide that stash the way you have been. Oh and if you need advice on how to deal with the fuzz when they do profile you and pull you over check out the video DJGreggieC pointed you to here.
We'll keep you posted. Yamagoo....Fire up!

Friday

Attention On Deck....The Captain is Here!

Craig Ferguson show Pot Stupidity

Isn't that just the funniest thing? Look at the cute, helpless stoner. See how dumb he is? Isn't that funny?

Monday

USA's biggest cash crop is now pot.

From BoingBoing the home of all things...well...oh fuck..... it they write cool shit no one else will and bring our attention to shit no one else saw-PS Xeni's hot!!!!

According to the analyst Jon Gettman, whose job it is to keep up with what us subversive counter cultural degenerate pot smokers are doing, marijuana is now America's biggest cash crop.
[The report] contends that the market value of pot produced in the U.S. exceeds $35 billion — far more than the crop value of such heartland staples as corn, soybeans and hay, which are the top three legal cash crops.

California is responsible for more than a third of the cannabis harvest, with an estimated production of $13.8 billion that exceeds the value of the state's grapes, vegetables and hay combined — and marijuana is the top cash crop in a dozen states, the report states. (...) Nationwide, the estimated cannabis production of $35.8 billion exceeds corn ($23 billion), soybeans ($17.6 billion) and hay ($12.2 billion), according to Gettman's findings.

This shit is bananas B-A-N-A-N-A-S

Just in case your thinking "yeah right...fruit cake press says marijuanna is the biggest cash crop grown here in the good old USA this is the LA Times article where you'll find it all laid out. Paid for by tax dollars this study was. Hmmmmm at an average sales tax of oh say 8% our antiquated and draconian anti-marijuanna laws are costing YOU the taxpayer over 3 BILLION DOLLARS a year! Yeah that says Billion.
Imagine how much could be grown and sold if we legalized its sale and distribution.
Deficit? What Deficit? Yamagoo...Fire up! C'mon DC blaze a phatty for the sake of the national debt!

Thursday

What the!!??

Via: VideoSift
Ok first things first. Why the hell would you cut perfectly good pot with cigarette tobacco? Secondly why the hell would you put a filter on it???? These idiots ought to have their pot taken away from them for a week for being stupid! Please folks, PLEASE, don't ruin your weed in this way. I...I'm just......

I'm totally distraught.. I need to smoke a bowl...

You know this happens..

This has probably happened more than once! Parents find the pot, smoke the pot, and then lecture about the evils pf pot smoking. Honesty is the key. pot is a great relaxation tool, fabulous medication, and quite frankly my favorite vice!

Homer Simpson pops up on medical marijuana packaging

from BoingBoing by Xeni Jardin
Xeni Jardin:
San Francisco resident "Tremain Calm" shares this scan of a legally-obtained bag of medical marijuana, featuring the presumably illicit use of Homer Simpson's likeness. Although -- who knows? Perhaps Homer, too, is a card-carrying member of that club, which would explain in part the character's penchant for donuts. Link to larger size. Bag label reads: "TRAINWRECK. Contingent to California H&S Code 11362.5 For medical use only. Do not operate heavy machinery or drive. This means you, Nicole Richie."
