UPDATED!!Tonight on the FoxXxcast...ShirleyPhelps-Roper ASSHOLE OF THE WEEK

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!

Well it's over and what a time it was. We were under near constant server ping attacks. I noticed I got booted when I had her against the ropes a few times....coincidence??? Here's the thing...she isn't that hard to debate. She can't stand it if you remain calm in the face of all her douche-baggery. She refuses to answer direct questions ESPECIALLY when they revolve around scripture quotes and she jumps around the Bible like she's got a pogo stick crammed up her snizz!

for what it is...and are you ready for what it is....SHE ISShe's only dangerous when her vile hate message isn't drug out into the cold light of reality and shown AN ATTENTION WHORE! Everything that her church does is for the sole purpose of gaining a platform with the media. It's meant to send you in to a blind rage cause people in a rage don't think as clearly as people who see this for what it is P.T. Barnum style shenanigans. For the remainder of mankinds existence there will be people who twist religion to suit themselves when what you really need to say to them is...buy a fucking karaoke machine and go star in your bedroom! Hey Westboro "Baptist" Church.....EAT MY SHORTS!

I know you've seen these asshats picketing soldiers funerals and basically perverting Christianity for their own hateful purposes. Well tonight is your chance to give them a piece of your mind. The RaunchFoxXx FoxXxcast which I co-host will have Shirley Phelps-Roper LIVE on Stickam this evening at 9pm PST. Oh and if you need some extra vitriol to motivate you to come and berate this looney tunes here's a link to a press release from the WBC (Westboro Baptist Church)(many thanks to FARK.com) were they anounce their intent to picket the funeral of Heath Ledger because of his role in Brokeback Mountain.

SHOWS OVER!!!
You can watch right here but better yet click on the screen while the show is airing and choose a temporary screen name and join in the text chat. There's no Sign-up required, No email required, no personal info. Come help us tell these pathetic excuses for humanity to TFSU! If you need more info leave me a comment and I will answer your questions.

BlogTV making changes? Yes & No

Mashable! reported on Friday that changes were afoot for BlogTv and sure enough I received my BlogTV newsletter and they confirmed all the new features now offered at the live streaming service. (from the BlogTV Newsletter)
New Features: Incredible new features are coming in the next few weeks that I think you will all be thrilled about:
1. One on one video will allow you to chat privately with your friends FACE 2 FACE!

2. File Transfer will be one of the features in the 1 to 1 private video so you will be able to share files with your best blogTV buddies.

3. Also coming soon you will be able to notify your friends on ICQ, MSN, AIM and yahoo messenger when your show is on!

4. The font in chats will be changed from Arial to Tahoma so there will be NO MORE CLONED USERNAMES hooray!!!!
Is BlogTV prepping for a change?
Mashables (whom I respect immensely - hi Mark!) wondered whether or not these changes were implemented to move BlogTV further away from the UGC/Live Streaming market and more toward an online video conferencing space. I'm not too sure about that. (At this point I need to explain that I am a co-host of a show on BlogTV and the following is not intended to disparage BlogTV, it's staff, or affiliates) I doubt that BlogTV would be taken seriously by any business in the market for a video conference tool and individuals can find alternative solutions without the all the window dressing of a site like BlogTV.

A visit to the site at any time of the day will greet you with the ambling and ramblings of just plain real folks talking about...well whatever strikes their fancy. The overwhelming majority of the BlogTV shows are "Read & Greet" type shows where the hosts simply read whats written by those in the chat room and respond to those comments. (There's a lot of blank staring into the screen, preening, and due to the strictly enforced TOS (terms of service) horrible "background" music picked up by crappy web cam microphones so as not to violate but rather usurp the ban on "copyrighted music") This isn't the case for everyone as there are some real standouts on the site. Recently popular YouTube vidcaster Phillip DeFranco seems to be flirting with BlogTV as a platform for a new live show though he currently uses Stickam for live chats.
I think it is more likely that BlogTV wants to offer these new features to their current users as enhancements to the service that were discussed and/or requested on the forums and in various chats.
BlogTV remains unique enough in the "Live Show" category among other platforms like Stickam, UStream, NowLive, and Operator 11 that it should be around and growing for some time to come but I doubt that there is a fundamental shift to the sites business model underway. But hey, I've been wrong before!

Stickam redesign launches

Well, well, well.....The gang over at Stickam has certainly been busy. Yesterday they launched a brand new site design and for the first time they did it without the dreaded and much bitched about planned service outages that have been used in the past. This of course led to much....

bitching and complaining.

Change is ALWAYS difficult....
It was a tough night Wednesday night as the changes began to be implemented. Users found themselves suddenly forced out of live rooms and had a difficult time logging back in. Some experienced problems with their Flash players (Here's a tip DO NO update to the most recent Flash player if you are a frequent Stickam user. As of this writing there are compatibility issues) not refreshing and not playing sounds. The new interface became "live" on Thursday and the problems (and the bitching) continued with URL errors and some users were unable to log in to view their pages, or make changes to their embedded players. Today however it appears that most of the problems have been resolved. I clicked every available link and all directed me to the appropriate page, quickly. The one notable exception is the Stickam forum which is no longer part of the main navigation but can still be located through a small link on the page footers. The Forum still display a Under Maintenance.

Let's discuss the visuals.....
All in all I think I like the look. It seems to compact a lot of information into a small space and do it pretty efficiently. According to the Stickam blog.....

In an effort to better organize the current site, Stickam will be getting a major face lift tomorrow. The site will be categorized into 4 different sections.

1. Social – Everyone’s hangout
2. Show – Formerly known as the creator account
3. Music – Homepage for musicians
4. Radio – Homepage for radio stations and DJs

So current entertainers need to take a look at the new categories and make certain that they are indeed put into the proper categories. There are "application" links under the SHOW, MUSIC, RADIO tabs that will allow new users (and presumably existing users) to apply to have their shows categorized the way they want and to be eligible to be featured on the corresponding page. I think this effort will do much to settle some of the competition complaints for those users who felt they were not given opportunities to be featured.

New features....
On my first exploration it appears that the redesign is more about efficiency than it is about adding features. This is ok because Stickam has been rolling out new features at a pretty good clip as of late. They've added Live Description, Email verification, a new player, age restriction and Subscription capabilities all in the last 2 months. It's this last feature Subscription capabilities which gets a new twist with the redesign. Under each category you can now get a listing of not only the most watched shows but also the most subscribed shows. The numbers for subscribers is quite eye opening in that they are for the most part REALLY low. This may be a sign that the feature was the desire of a small number of Stickam users and isn't being adopted by the wider base.
Another nice feature is a Schedule of upcoming shows under each tab. In particular under the SHOWS heading Adam Paranoia with a daily run down of featured shows called Picks of the Day and in an attempt to begin to leverage the vast quantity of UGC (User Generated Content) from the Media Gallery it gets it own tab and videos by users who are slotted in to each category are being featured on each page!

So what's the verdict?
The same as it is with any UPDATE....wait and see. Graphically I like the look. Functionally I believe it will eventually shake things out amongst users and they will settle in to a favorite place...but I would still like to see Stickam make greater strides toward better video quality (ala BlogTV) higher customization (Whats with the MySpace "approved only photo links" only and restricted java capabilities approach it was douche-baggery when they did it and its the same here) and above all better and more reliable streaming. I know its a "you get what you pay for" thing but I would pay (and so would lots of your "Entertainers") if we could rely on the medium as a tool for connecting with new and existing audiences without lag, pixelated pictures and with the ability customize players either at the API level or with scripts.

Stickam rumors...and more

Rumors are flying all around the popular video community Stickam about possible upcoming changes. Recently Stickam has begun to feature a broader combination of UGC (user generated content) and major media offerings on its front page in a new interface which is more visitor friendly. The recent addition of Google adsense and banner ads has led some users to wonder whether Stickam is getting ready for significant changes. Speculation about what those changes might be ranges from the site being "prepped for sale" to a larger internet firm to a possible roll out of a fee based, subscription type service. The service has been innovating a lot recently. New features have been popping up to the surprise, and occasionally chagrin of the most active users. It also appears that there is a new focus on policing so called "inappropriate" content on the PG-13 site. I'll keep my eye on the changes and see if I can find out more as things develop.

DJ Maul Webcast HUGE success

If you missed the live webcast by DJ Maul last night then you missed a great time, awesome trivia, a true multi-media event and belly dancing! Thanks to all who attended in person in LA and on the Stickam at iYamagoo.com
Here's a little peek at some of the coolness that DJ Maul is experiencing at Celebration IV

Tuesday

The Ultimate Geek Fest of 2007: Star Wars - Celebration IV

On May 23rd. I will be boarding a plane for L.A. to attend the ultimate gathering of Star Wars fans from around the world! "Celebration IV" will be held at the L.A. Convention Center from May 24th through the 28th and is being held in honor of the 30th anniversary of the release of the film that changed film making forever and started a phenomena way back in 1977.

Back in 2005 I attended "Celebration III" in Indianapolis and had an amazing time, so what I really wish to do this trip is to document whatever I can and share it with all my fellow geeks who can't make it, plus maybe even show a few NON geeks what the fuss is all about, ya know?

Things will kick off with a bang on Day One. I have spent the past several weeks organizing a large "Meet & Greet" party consisting of fans from all over the world, most of whom are part of the blogging community at Star Wars.com's official website: http://blogs.starwars.com/

I have over 50 people confirmed to attend with more confirming every week.

If all goes well, I will be doing a LIVE webcast from the party for all of our fellow geeks back home who can't be with us, with some planned games, music and other entertainment. And Im sure you will see at least a FEW people in costumes!

The party itself will take place on Thursday evening May 24th. from aproximately 7pm to 10pm PST.

I will be webcasting it from my Stickam.com profile: http://www.stickam.com/profile/djmaul as long as I can get a live internet connection, which I have made arrangements for but won't be 100 percent SURE it will work until I'm there of course...wish me luck!

Come by and check it out and watch the fun, if you ever wanted to see what happens when you gather a bunch of drunken Star Wars geeks in one place this is your chance!

make sure you pop in at the webcams live chat and say HI! I will be sure to monitor the chat room as often as possible during the party.

I will also be shooting TONS of footage of the Meet & Greet Party and of course of the entire Con from my brand new digital camera, so when I get back keep your eyes open for plenty of video blogs documenting my adventures.

Until then...May The Force Be With You!

Thursday

THURSDAYS are now SONGS THAT TAKE YOU BACK

I have been broadcasting LIVE on the blog every day of the week for a while now and I decided it was time to introduce some guidance to my random selection of music. If you would like to suggest a "theme" for the other 4 days of the work week please do. I want something original though....don't give that regular old Awesome 80's type schlock. Come up with something we can discuss back in forth in the LIVE CHAT on Stickam. You don't need a Stickam account to chat...just click on the image of me in the upper left corner, and when prompted choose a temporary screename and that's it! If you want to video chat then create an account and add us as friends and boom we're talking live.

So the first theme is for Thursdays, cause today is Thursday, and it's SONGS THAT TAKE YOU BACK! You know what I mean those songs that immediately suck you right back to a particular time and place. They bring back more than just emotion they bring back images, and smells and put you right back in that moment. You can hear mine, and even get the inside scoop on why these songs matter to me by adding me as a Twitter friend and then listening and following the Tweets! I will endeavore to save all the tweets and post them at the end of the day. Should be fun, but it'll be GREAT if we get YOUR participation. email me requests and the story behind them and I'll share them with everyone ala Casey Kasem.
UPDATE:So here are the Tweets from Twitter. These are only MY memories tied to the songs indicated. I revised them cause sometimes 140 characters just isn't enough....these are in reverse order and do not represent every song played. Thanks to those who joined me.

Webcams, Streaming Video and More...

If you're new to Yamagoo first let me say welcome, and next let me bring you're attention to the very bottom of this page! There you will find our embedded Stickam player. I stream music and video live from work everyday during the week on the Stickam You can hear great remixes and even make requests by emailing me (you'll see the email addy on the left sidebar and scrolling on the video.
Most of the Yamagoo crew have webcams either built in to their laptops or as stand alones like the ones in the picture (aren't they cute?) which means that at anytime you may be watching us do a live mix show, or maybe checking us out at a gig. That's right no matter where we're playing, as long as there's an internet connection, we can and do broadcast. Stickam is FREE and very simple to set up.
I have also been messing around with USTREAM.tv and this service which is a Chris Pirillo fave ( if you don't know about Chris go check him, and his lovely and equally brilliant wife Ponzi , out worth the read every time!) while not as intuitive or well documented, holds lots of promise and doesn't some with as many "limitations." USTREAM.tv is also FREE.
So what's my point? Well there are several. First stop by and see what's streaming at Yamagoo. You never know what you'll see and hear. Second, the technology that makes it possible to see and hear, chat and share is here NOW and we don't need to wait for it. And finally....get a webcam and start streaming. It's fun, helpful, and just one more way to connect to people all over the world.

Yamagoo Summit Recap...

Hey Gang! DJ J here in New Hampshire...hot off the Yamagoo Crew Summit Lite, and on my way to a Surprise 25th Anniversary Party in Wheelock,VT. Lets catch up shall we....

The Yamagoo Crew Summit(Lite) included 4 states, 2 live webcasts with 40+ viewers (Thank You ALL!) who got to eat lunch with DJ J, DJ Greggie C, and Vince (yet another DJ) and got to hang out in Greggie's studio upon completion of the install of a window into the vocal booth. The studios looking real good! We also installed a permanent mount for the "Yamagoo Studio Cam" and figured WTF! Why not broadcast an impromptu mix session with Greg, The Captain, and myself. So we did!! I have 3 hours of video to sort through from the live mix show but I promise a video by the end of the week! Cross my heart. We had alot of people hit us up that night, many stayed, a few logged in to live chat with us. It was a GREAT vibe. Fast forward to the next night and we're live from the infamous "Bistro" which is a secret and well hidden oasis for Yamagooers, where we streamed a rehearsal of Pro Bono, featuring Greggie C on lead vox/harmonica/COW BELL! (Freakin Sweet)...We've already posted some of Pro Bono on Yamagoo Tube...and I have another 3 hours of video from this to screen. There will be tons more and I promise a quick re-cap by the end of the week as well. While we were blown away by the response 40+ viewers live..we hardly let anyone know...it was sort of spontaneous.. We sent out a couple MySpace Notices but nothing too huge....posted a banner on the main page and BLAM! Instant live internet show...WITH chat! (We also emailed people but not too many, and called 1 or 2) Pretty successful for no pre-planning. It begs the question ...Do we need a Yamagoo Email List?? For now just leave a comment with some contact info and SIGN UP in caps and we'll let you know whats happening, while I cook up something more permanent.

The good news is really that we've decided to do more webcasting...We are in the process of getting webcams to the whole Yamagoo Crew and do some more instant webcasting live on Stickam....by the way you don't need to register with Stickam to chat during a broadcast...single click the video thumbnail, pick a chat name and hit enter, but if you do sign-up you can watch everyone else whos online with a cam in the chat. Greg and I have agreed to try and "get live" all day at work when we can. Get your Stickam account and spy on us all day live on line! Too weird? ABSO-FUCKIN-LUTELY! Yamagoo...Fire up!

Monday

Yamagoo Contest

Ok there are 75 bands represented in the picture above. (Click on the pic for the bigger version and save it to your hard drive.)

Can you name all 75? Put your discoveries in the comments. First one to 75 gets a prize. maybe we'll make you a CD with custom mixes from all the DJ's in the Yamagoo crew??? Sound good? Get to it!
